SMART PHONES : WHAT REALLY IT IS ; BOON OR CURSE????

As we all know that smart phones revolutionized the world. Everyone including me and you relied fully on it. No doubt it changed the perspective of seeing the things. It became the most essential part of our life, our basic needs, our companion and what not. We really need so many adjectives to emphasize its importance.

In current scenario, whether it's an android phone or an iPhone, everyone owns either of them. You can come across almost everyone having a smartphone in their pocket, purse, hand or wherever it is. Majority of the population can easily use and utilize the features of smartphone as it is much affordable, whether you are below poverty line or the above, it is necessary for you to have a smartphone. No matter what anyone does in their 5.5 inches big touch screen, whether scrolling Instagram, social media updates, texting the loved ones or just playing pubg, you will find everyone has the smartphone.

According to the research firm ‘Dscout', an average a person scrolls or swipe their mobile screen is 3000 times a day and the figures goes more than 5000 for the heavier users.

As a blessings, smartphone had given us so much like it connected one to the other side of the world without even moving a inch. We can contact our far away friends, families at the ease of just a tap away. Internet helped the students to have knowledge on certain topics, homework, assignments, etc. It became very handy and easy to use a smartphone unlike old days where a large receiver were present at the center of the house to contact the world. Now it became very easy to carry it in your hand or pocket. Our Moms started cooking delicious food with the recipes available on internet.

Social Media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter helps to interact and connect with new people across the world. There are lots of pros of smartphone but as said “Pros always comes with the Cons".

According to me, the cons graph is bit more than the pros on the social level. Smartphone revolutionized the world, it is true but it also made every social human being to rob themselves of personal interaction with others and finished the art of the direct connection. Almost in every household you can see, even in yours too, everyone has their own personal space where they can use their smartphones privately unlike old days where everyone used to sit together and discuss on certain topics, what's going in the nation, their well-being, etc. Now it all just became a matter of WhatsApp family group. Almost every family member or friends interact each other in WhatsApp even present below the same roof.

Student getting addicted to social sites which started affecting their results, Working person getting stressed because of working on smartphones 24x7 and it affects their personal life too. A UK study found that people who spend a lot of time on social media are more likely to display negative personality traits such as narcissism. Snapping endless selfies, posting all your thoughts or details about your life can create an unhealthy self-centeredness, distancing you from real-life relationships and making it harder to cope with stress.

My personal suggestion for the parents if you incessantly check notifications over dinner or answer texts during family gatherings, you may be contributing to your child’s overuse behavior (check these silent signs that you may have a cell phone addiction). “If you want your kids to get off of their phones, you need to get off of yours”.

Smartphones are here to assist us, not control us. Be grateful. Enjoy the beautiful present that lies in front of you and get your head out of that phone!
